Proposal on The Revision of Employer's Liability/Workmen's Compensation Insurance Tariff

The prevailing tariff structure with regard to employer’s liability/workmen’s compensation insurance is to be reviewed by the Insurance Board of Sri Lanka (IBSL).

After a review of the present status in Sri Lanka, the IBSL wishes to solicit the views of insurers, brokers, agents, policy-holders and potential policy-holders, on the feasibility of permitting insurance companies to offer suitable employer’s liability/workmen’s compensation packages at competitive prices. The IBSL’s current thinking is based, among other considerations on the need for greater competition leading to better services and to eliminate unhealthy practices that lead to non-compliance with mandatory tariff structures.

Comments may be sent to the IBSL Secretariat on or before 18 September 2002.
